What are the reasons why a person pays for luxury, are particular and diverse. For those who live it consciously, it is a good thing and conducive to achievable personal, economic and material objectives, a sign of economic success and the measure of its improvement, they relate it to power and hierarchy, it is a symbol of status. It has been the motivator of the most difficult personal desires and consequently in the reward and compensation for pain, frustration and scarcity.
There are those who have simple lives without hope of shining that require going beyond normality and basic needs, and having no other tools other than material things, they take refuge and entrench luxury. So they begin to overpay for irrelevant goods and services in an attempt to give meaning and significance to their existence.Although we tend to think that we have the monster of domesticated luxury, the truth is that it is nipping at our heels. Everyone has their own need for luxury, small, subtle, foolish, simple, pagan, artisanal, industrial, natural, technological, purely perverse, profane, blessed and of less value, but always luxury.
It is not only the so-called rich who have access to luxury, that is not the best consumer, it is the abundant poor who save the most who buy, for this they go into debt or steal from other poor people, to acquire the luxury they want and reflect on objects and services they crave and are sure to deserve.
Anything is a luxury, for those who want what to acquire exceeds their normal means, whose demand increases proportionally with the increase in their income, unlike basic goods to cover their needs. In other words, the poorer you are, the more things you want to have to cover needs that the money you earn cannot cover. That is why, having satisfied our needs, we tend to acquire luxuries that are essential to us. Those fictitious, but palpable needs can be arranged like this:
Level 1. Once the physiological need to piss and act is satisfied, the need to do it in luxury is born, with more sophisticated paper, it doesn't matter that it doesn't clean better, but that the label is in another language, that the bowl has a plush seat and the walls of the toilet are covered with beautiful things that allow us to take a deep breath in that important moment.
Level 2. Whoever has cereals and pasta, or rice and sardines to eat honorably and fairly, after eating, is hungry for a good dessert, but before that, excesses and luxuries are more pressing. For example, a ham, the Sunday grill with beer and cassava.
Level 3. For those who have blue-jean pants and two flannels to cover themselves in this pleasant tropical climate, they are always dreaming of a good brand that lasts, with arch-suspension shoes and anti-slip tread, a better perfume than the copy that only aromatizes illusions and vanishes before reaching the door, the originals are good, regardless of whether they are Panamanian or from New York, they also want a watch that is fashionable, it does not matter that it does not tell the time.
Level 4. If you already have an equipped house, which gives you more than shelter, comfort and protection, look at the time to remodel it, change the cement floors, put ceramic tiles in the bathroom, in the kitchen European-type cabinets made in the neighborhood and for that matter. Assuming a television in each room, not doing so would be living like animals. And how are they going to only have a fixed telephone line and prepaid access, cell phones are not a luxury, they are a necessity, for the safety of the children and the peace of mind of the parents who ask for the dollars to buy something imported, then they will see that; And for the house some decorations, a manger, a tree, full air conditioning, Queen beds, nothing fancy this year, the Kings will come next year.
Level 5. Since they already have an exercise machine, a blender, a mixer, a microwave, a video game, cell phones, televisions, brand-name clothes, and new furniture, it's time to make a grill with tenderloin, ribs, and thighs, no entrails or wings, and indulge in some luxury, because the family has always lived in austerity, almost destitute. They begin to really think about more sophisticated cell phones, changing the car, and yes, buying one of those dogs with an ugly face and no hair, who only do the trick of making the owners look like rich, special, and very humble.
Level 6. At this point they have the luxury of traveling, not to their cousins in Chuspa, Pariaguan or Mucuchíes, where they end up sleeping on the ground, they each want to sleep in their hammock on the banks of a river where they can make a sancocho and die stuck to the pea with pure beer, nothing of guarapita, for that they worked so much and they deserve a rest with luxuries. This year they will see the sorcerer that they have wanted to visit so much to see if they come out from below, that the child study outside the state because there are no opportunities here.
nothing or that the girl marries a rich asshole or gets pregnant by a baseball player.
Level 7. Once all their previous needs have been satisfied, they are left to think about self-improvement, affording themselves the luxury of aspiring to a position of director, even if they have not finished high school or of president of the institute without having a university degree. Perhaps even having a couple of conquests under the charm of power, overall, if you are the one who has made acts of sacrifice for the party, it is not a luxury to enjoy the milk and honey it provides. Then the priorities are reviewed and satisfied they begin to indulge again, the thing is not pure sacrifice.
The viciousness of this circle does not seem to end by ministerial order or by an awareness campaign, because it is in human beings or at least in Venezuelan hearts, and it will not change until three thousand years from now, when the level of thought and consciousness is achieved. that allows us to throw away the luxury of thinking individually. Against us today are the products and thoughts of people like Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel better known as Coco Chanel who once said "Luxury is a need that is born where the need ends."
